2012 Lone star chapter regional emmy(r) award winner: best evening newscast

The night before this show, tornadoes rolled into South Texas; three touched down in the small towns of Devine and Natalia. I had three reporters and found a different way of introducing each story (chopper video, viewer photos, data I searched out and analyzed). I also wrapped up coverage with a history of this weather pattern in our viewing area in the last six months and a pitch to our web site.

2013 Lone star chapter regional emmy (r) nominated: best evening newscast

A gunman disrupted the midnight showing of "The Black Knight" in Aurora, Colorado. He killed one San Antonio native and injured another. I produced the entire newscast around this event. Two reporters covered the San Antonio victims; a third reported from the scene in Aurora; a fourth looked into how the suspect got the firearms; a fifth talked to local theaters about how they were reacting. I threaded the stories together with information about the suspect, the crime scene locations, 911 calls and social media posts.

9Health Fair
9Health Fair is a statewide health initiative in Colorado. It provides free and low-cost health screenings to everyone, regardless of insurance status. In addition to my daily 5 a.m. newscast responsibilities, I create the spring and fall coverage plans for 9Health Fair, organize and oversee the shoots to gather the video and audio components, write stories to promote 9Health Fair and produce separate content for liveshots. For each season, this equates to finding, shooting, writing & producing 85+ stories, 30+ liveshots, and web content.

This video gives you an overview of the ads, liveshots, in-studio guests, and testimonials used to promote 9Health Fair in Spring 2014.
